The Ukraine Scheme visa grants 3 years of permission to stay in the UK. In February 2024, the government announced significant updates to the scheme.
How long is my current visa under Ukraine Scheme valid?
The Ukraine Scheme visa includes three routes:
• Homes for Ukraine;
• Ukraine Extension Scheme;
• And Ukraine Family routes.
• All visas under the Ukraine Scheme are currently valid for 3 years, regardless of the route used.
You can find your visa’s expiration date in the Home Office email that was sent when your visa was approved.
Alternatively, you can use this link to verify it: https://right-to-work.service.gov.uk/rtw-prove/id-question.
What will happen after my 3 years?
This year, the government announced that individuals holding a valid Ukraine Scheme visa would be able to extend their stay for an additional 18 months under a new Ukraine Permission Extension (UPE) Scheme. Applications will open online starting in early 2025. Applicants will be able to submit their applications during the final 3 months of their current visa. Specific details on the application process have not yet been announced.
What should I do now?
It's essential to be aware of your visa's expiration date. You can verify the validity of your visa here: https://right-to-work.service.gov.uk/rtw-prove/id-question.
It's your responsibility to apply for an extension before your current leave expires.
