At the moment, there are several options for moving to Spain for permanent residence if you do not have an EU passport/resident status in the EU. Today I will talk about the most popular categories of these visas.
Non-lucrative visa, suitable for people living on passive income, as this visa does not allow working in Spain. This visa is very popular among retirees. Initially issued for one year, then it is extended for another two years twice. After five years of living in Spain, you have the opportunity to apply for a permanent residence permit. The advantage of this visa is that the applicant's children and spouses can move to Spain with you. The visa provides access to the healthcare and education system.
Main documents for the visa:
Passport
Proof of financial solvency (pension, passive income) – currently, the required amount in the account should be about 28,000 euros and 6,800 euros for each family member moving with you.
Private medical insurance for Spain
Certificate of no criminal record
Application form and photograph
The application is submitted at the Spanish consulate/visa center in your country of residence. The visa extension is already done in Spain.
2. Golden visa, a visa for investors and high-income individuals. The golden visa requires significant investments in the Spanish economy, such as purchasing real estate worth at least 500,000 euros. This visa allows the holder to work and do business in Spain, ideal for investors and entrepreneurs.
We know there are rumors about the closure of this visa, but we can confirm that it remains open as of today, and decisions on this visa are usually made quite quickly.
3. Digital Nomad visa. At the moment, we recommend applying for it only for citizens of the UK, Canada, USA, Australia.
This visa allows you to live and work in Spain. Initially issued for 12 months with the possibility of extension. It is necessary to prove that your monthly income is at least 2,400 euros and 28,800 euros per year (and higher if you have children).
An important requirement for this visa is that you must prove that you work remotely in your country. You must have full private insurance and no criminal record.
It is desirable to live in Spain for at least 6 months a year on this visa if you plan to extend it.
